Job Description:

Job Purpose

Responsible for working on digital transformation initiatives for pulp and fibre business with focus on operational technologies like IIOT, MES, LIMS, SCADA, DCS, Sensors, Digital twin etc., exposure to emerging technologies like machine learning, Artificial intelligence, RPA using bots, Predictive/cognitive analytics etc.

  • Implement short- and long-term IT strategic plans on Operational Technologies to achieve digitization of Manufacturing Process.
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert, Manage and sustain implementation of Manufacturing IT tools in the Business
  • Lead OT-IT integration
  • SME for Aspen IP21 /OSI PI

The production of Birla Cellulose fibre has cost competitive advantage because of its backward integration with uninterrupted pulp supply from pulp manufacturing units in India, Canada and Sweden. Business has established product of regular VSF, Dyed VSF and Modal in the market place in textiles and nonwoven applications.

 

With the rapid technology transformation of solvent spun fibres in the global market, the new arena has begun now for most cost effective and eco-friendly man-made cellulosic fibers. It is imperative for Birla Cellulose to achieve success in the segment of solvent spun fibre and reinforce its market leadership in all major categories of manmade cellulosic fibres. In this context, all functions within P & B Business are expected to align with business needs and consistently deliver on time, superior quality and cost-effective solutions to internal / external customers.

1. Expertise in Operational Technologies

 

  • In-depth and hands-on experience on various OT applications like MES, Advanced Process Control, Asset Performance Management, Plant control systems - DCS etc
  • Knowledge of Aspen IP 21/ OSI PI and integration with LIMS, SAP etc.
  • Knowledge of inferential / soft sensors

2. Exposure to Add on Systems used to complement OT systems

  • E-log books, Digital Work Permit, VR based training
  • Integration of various systems with ERP
  • Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform

3. OT Digitization

  • Digital Twin, Asset Performance Management, Predictive maintenance, Condition Monitoring etc.
  • Investigates root causes of technical issues, recommend and implement permanent solutions

4. Governance Framework

 

  •  Periodic security testing of OT-IT integration interfaces
  • Secure data transfer between OT & IT
