Job Purpose
Roles & Responsibilities
- The role of this position is to lead projects in process control & digitalization related to metallurgical process industries.
- Technical ideation & scoping of new R&D projects and deliver scientific or technical solution through research and developmental program.
- Detailed planning and execution of projects and to guide other team members to support project execution.
- Design and perform measurements/experiment related to aluminium manufacturing process & other associated areas to verify the calculations.
- Keeping up with latest advancement on process control system and new technologies in aluminium smelting domain.
- Compilation of research proposals, technical / project reports.
- Publication & presentation of research work in journal & conferences as well as filing of IPR.
Skills
- PhD with 3-5 years exp. / Master with 7-10 years exp.
- Degree from the recognized university in the following discipline: Chemical/ Metallurgical Engineering with good academic & professional records.
- Thesis/Project work preferably on control system/ process intensification through the optimization of mass and energy balance/ thermodynamics/ Data Analytics using Python etc.
Must have
- Experience & knowledge of control systems, control logic / algorithm for metallurgical process industry: Model Predictive Control (MPC), DCS systems, PLC, functional block diagram, etc.
- Knowledge and experience of data analytics / AI / ML tools including programming languages: Python / R / Matlab and their industrial application.
- Experience in Thermodynamics and Transport phenomena in metallurgical process industries.
- Knowledge on system programming / software tools such as Ladder Logic / C / C++ / FORTRAN as well as database management SQL, My SQL and Oracle.
- Good team player and seamlessly working with cross-functional teams.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
Good to have
- Experience in research & development in process industries specifically for implementation/ scale up of solutions.
- Knowledge of reporting tools and technologies such as SQL, Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, data visualization tools like tableau, or custom-built solutions.
- Hands on experience in data analytics tools such as data preprocessing, regression models, deep learning, signal processing.

PhD or M. Tech in Chemical/ Metallurgical Engineering
