Job Description:


1)  Job Purpose:  

To support the implementation of employee relations strategies and programs that ensure legal compliance, harmonious employee relations, and effective management of external stakeholders, thereby enabling smooth operations, productivity, and alignment with business objectives, while addressing ongoing Group and Unit queries on all ER-related operational issues.

 

 

Key Result Areas  

Supporting Actions

Implementation of ER policies and operational plans for the business basis guidelines from the Group

  • Implementation of ER strategy at business level and guiding the units in short to medium term pegs of ER strategy.
  • For Brownfield, Greenfield related initiatives supporting the business people & environment bottlenecks and planning/implementing steps to handle them. Also medium/ long term planning to take advantage of new business initiative on productivity improvement.

Ensuring productive and harmonious Employee Relations

  • Responsible for implementing business strategy, and policies, frameworks, processes for employee relations - wage settlement, welfare, grievance management, contract labor management, labour union management etc. along with the Units
  • Update existing systems and processes to align with latest changes in legislation
  • Supporting Unit HR in developing and implementing ER related policies and processes at the Unit
  • Develop/Maintain relationships with top level Trade Union leadership at State/Regional level
  • Ensure compliance of laws and statues in business & units, conducting periodic audits, dispute resolution, grievance management

Being the Subject Matter Expert within the business for ER & Welfare

  • Acting as the SME for the relevant portfolios and go to person for any related queries from the business
  • Provide necessary consulting, problem solving, solutions & services to the line managers/unit HR. Provide guidance and play a consulting role thru necessary support in the areas of wage settlements, bonus agreements, VRS, Staff & Workmen life cycle, Security and litigation matters.
  • Continuously scanning markets & environments to spot emerging trends and providing relevant inputs in existing processes
  • Building capabilities and training line & HR managers in the relevant portfolios to improve quality of output

Implementing Group ER policies & guidelines at the business & unit level

  • Implement group policies, guidelines & new initiatives for relevant portfolios within the business & units
  • Facilitating implementation of uniform quality of processes across all units
  • Align business level practices with GCOE on an ongoing basis
  • Inputs to Group COE on business requirements and providing feedback on ongoing processes & policies

Contract Management, Union Management, Wage

Settlements

  • Design policies, frameworks, guidelines for contract management, union management and wage settlements for the Business and Units basis the group guidelines Guide the Unit HR on implementation

Dispute Resolution and Grievance

Management

  • Design policies, frameworks, guidelines for dispute resolution and grievance management for the Business and Units basis the group guidelines. 
  • Guide the Unit HR in designing and implementing policies and processes for dispute resolution and grievance management in the units

Statutory Compliances & Legal

Matters

  • Take an inventory of broad line statutory compliances & legal matters across Units.
  • Initiate internal audits & corrective actions / improvements. 
  • Provide up-dates on latest amendments, impacting our statutory compliances 
  • Assess the ER Index with Unit Head & Unit HR Head and take it as an action in monthly Union Meetings

Learning & Development /

Competency Development

  • Building capability of line managers & front line HR team through customized workshops involving internal and external experts. 
  • Monitor the Staff & Workmen Learning & Development activities. Utilize the Worker’s Board of Education



Qualifications:
MBA

Minimum Experience Level:
10-14 Years
