BESS Lead - Engineering and Technology

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated BESS Lead to join our growing energy storage team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the technical development, design, and execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems across our project portfolio. As an Independent Power Producer (IPP), we develop, own, and operate renewable energy projects, and the BESS Lead will play a key role in integrating storage into our asset pipeline to maximize value and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the engineering design and technical development of BESS projects from feasibility through commissioning.

• Evaluate and select battery technologies, PCS/inverter systems, EMS platforms, and integrators.

• Coordinate with internal development, EPC, finance, and operations teams to support project execution and alignment.

• Work with utilities and ISOs to understand interconnection and grid services applicable to BESS.

• Support permitting, environmental assessments, and interconnection applications with relevant technical documentation.

• Develop and manage project specifications, performance requirements, and technical RFPs.

• Provide technical due diligence for acquisition or partnership opportunities involving BESS assets.

• Stay informed on market trends, emerging technologies, regulatory updates, and safety standards.

• Assist in the modeling and financial evaluation of BESS configurations in hybrid or standalone applications.

• Ensure all projects adhere to industry codes and best practices, including IEEE, UL, and NFPA standards.
