Job Description:

The R&D team is thus expected to work on innovations that would enable the business to take aquantum leap through patented products and processes, and develop a portfolio of new investment opportunities for the business, that will strengthen the competitive positioning of the business.


Job Purpose:

·         To work on innovations that would enable the business to take a quantum leap through patented products and processes, and develop a portfolio of new investment opportunities for the business, that will strengthen the competitive positioning of the business.

·         Enhance the color sciences capability in the R&D organization thereby contributing to the growth of the colored fiber business.

Mandatory Skills:

  1. Detail understanding of Synthesis of organic pigments (azo chemistry and heterocycles), dye stuff and intermediates, analysis and documentation of laboratory experiments
  2. Knowledge of pigments, color measurements, color analysis, fiber/fabric dyeing
  3. Support upscale and transfer to production of newly developed products
  4. Collaboration with Process Development, Production and Technical Marketing
  5. Knowledge of color matching, color science, color gamut
  6. Expertise in pigment dispersions, effects, shades.

 

Additional requirements:

1.      Experienced in industrial production processes related to dye stuff, organic pigments and fiber engineering.

2.      Good understanding of regulatory compliance regarding pigments, dye stuff and aromatic compounds.

  1. Creative personality, thinking outside of the box and strong hands on problem solving skills.
  2. Excellent team player with good communication skills.
  3. High motivation, self-starter.

·         Developing a world class technical competency in color services.

·         Ability to effectively work with various stakeholders - Marketing, Manufacturing, Business and customers, across multiple geographies.

  • Working together across multiple technology groups Pulp R&D, ABSTC, CTC, BRI, ABCFRC, TRADC, Manufacturing.   
  • Building in a market focus for innovation and commercialization of new products by creating marketable products and supporting customer adoption.

Generate & evaluate innovative ideas for product and process development of colored cellulosic fibers.

 

Project planning, execution and scale

Technical scoping, planning and execution of R&D projects.

Develop & execute experimental plans.

Supervise & troubleshoot scale-up trials.

Execute/coordinate activities for developing laboratory & pilot plant infrastructure.

Contribute to laboratory SHE programs.

 

Documentation & patents

 

 

Write technical reports, publications, SOPs and patents.

 

 



Qualifications:
  • Ph. D./M.Sc  in Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering/ Textiles from a reputed institution
  • PhD with min. 10 years of industry experience (Pigment & Dyestuff industry & color technology, surface coating) in Synthetic Organic Chemistry / Colorants in dye stuff or organic pigment synthesis. 
  • Experience of working in research and development /scale up/process design/ troubleshooting/variation control  in a renowned company  or overseas research experience. Exposure to polymers / fibers / cellulose is preferred but not a must
